appointments qualify under 1 or 2 above for at least three quarters during
a year, and who are under contract to continue at least half-time
employment following the quarter during which they are not in half-time
status, may enroll during the “off” quarter.
EXCLUSIONS
Tuition and fee waiver
for enrollment is limited by the Board of Trustees to no more than 4

full tuition for any credits beyond 4. Enrollments under this
program may not be made for any of the following:
1.
Self-supporting courses
offered through Extended Programs.
2.
Conferences, Directed
Independent Study, or other individualized courses.
3.

etc.

7.
Non-credit

The University reserves
the right to exclude, at its discretion, registration in certain programs
and courses.
FEES
Enrollment in the
Summer Employee Fee Waiver program
requires the payment of the non-refundable $50 service fee. Certain courses may also require
laboratory fees, etc. ALL FEES MUST BE PAID BY THE TUITION
PAYMENT DEADLINE.
WORKLOADS
It is the
responsibility of department heads to assure that an employee’s work
responsibilities are not adversely affected by course enrollments and that
extra staff is not required as a result of such enrollments. Work time lost as the result of
course enrollments must be made up except in the unusual case involving a
directive by an employer that an employee take a course to upgrade
job-related skills.
REGISTRATION
PROCESS
1.
Complete the 'Reactivation' form available from the Summer Session
Office, the Summer Session Web site or in the Summer Bulletin at least
five days prior to the start of Summer quarter so that your registration
account may be activated. (NOTE: If you wish to matriculate and earn a
degree or teaching certificate, you must submit credentials and gain
regular admission. Then, as long as you enroll each quarter, no new
application is needed. If you do not wish to matriculate, or if you do not
enroll for a given quarter, the short admissions form must be completed
before the quarter during which you wish to enroll.)
2.
Obtain the tuition waiver form from your department, Registrar, or the Human Resources Web site. Secure the necessary
signatures from your Department Head and Human Resources.
3.
Tuition waived enrollments are on a space available
basis and will not be accepted until the first day of classes each
quarter. Register
on
the Web or RSVP during Phase III, which begins on the first day of classes
and ends on the fifth day of instruction. The deadline for
registration on this waiver is the fifth day of instruction.
4.
Submit the signed tuition waiver form directly to the
Registrar's Office AFTER registration is complete.
5.
Fees are due by the fee payment deadline for the current term;
refer to the Summer Bulletin. The $50 service fee is non-refundable and must be paid even if
you withdraw in the first week of the quarter.
6.
You may register either for credit or as an auditor. (Auditing
requires written permission of the instructor and is subject to
restrictions listed in the catalog.)
7.
All University regulations on prerequisites and scholarship
standards apply to employees enrolling through this program.
8.
Employees enrolling under the provisions of the tuition waiver
program may not obtain permission from faculty members to enroll "over the
limit."
9.
If you wish to register without waiting to see if space is
available in a given course, you may register in the normal fashion and
pay regular tuition by turning in the 'Reactivation Form' without
submitting the waiver form. An employee who registers for any course during Phase I or II
must pay regular tuition.
