Extended Education & Summer
Programs
The purpose of the Speaker/Honorarium process is to provide an
opportunity to add value to the content and/or delivery of a course by compensating
a professional expert, from outside of WWU’s community of staff and faculty, to
speak, lecture, and/or facilitate discussion on a topic relevant to the
objectives of that course.
The Honorarium/Speaker Form is an e-sign form and may be accessed at the following link: https://testwest.wwu.edu/admcs/process/forms/EESP/eesp_honorarium_speaker_approval.aspx An alternate version is available upon request. Departments strongly encourage the use of the e-sign form which is located on the EESP Forms link:
§ The customary amount for an honorarium is $50.00.
§ It is expected that the contracted faculty member will
be present for the duration of the speaker’s presentation.
§ Contracted faculty are typically limited to one speaker per class, or a maximum combined total of the established honorarium amount if requesting multiple speakers.
§ WWU employees are not eligible to receive compensation for guest speaker services.
§ Payments to guest speakers are processed after services are rendered.
Procedures
§ The contracted course faculty must request and receive approval from the Department Chair for all guest speakers before engaging a guest speaker for presentation.
§ Requests for guest speakers must be made at least 7 days prior to the event and no later than the 2nd class meeting for the quarter.
§ Requests are routed through your program support staff for Department approval.
§ Once the Department has provided signature approval, the form should be forwarded to EESP at the following address:
